From the back cover: This is the first comprehensive set of tables of composition of Australian indigenous foods. The Data compiled here will be of interest to biologists and historians, explorere and chefs, nutritionists and horticulturalists, as well as Abiriginal and non Aboriginal Australians. The original Aboriginal users of these foods supplied a great deal of this information and much of the sample material was gathered by Bush Tucker Man Les Hiddins and others on expeditions throughout the north of Australia.

The data are drawn from over 1200 samples representing 500 different bushfoods and include gifures for content of dietary fibre, thiamine, riboflavin, magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper, lead, cadmium and phosphorus, as well as the more usual water, energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate and ash.
